FEMA Flood Elevation Certificate
Aaron Kennerly PLS provides this product to customers who live in or near FEMA Flood Hazzard Zones and are required to obtain flood insurance for their homes. The certificate contains elevation information for the different floors in your home and outside grades. It will also list what flood zone the home is located in as defined by the flood insurance rate maps prepared by the federal government. Often times a home owner may feel their residence is located at a higher elevation than what is indicated on the flood map and a properly completed Elevation Certificate prepared by a licensed land surveyor can be used by the home owner to rezone their particular location and allow the government to waive their requirement for flood insurance. With the typical cost of flood insurance being over $1000 per year, the approximate cost of $400 to $500 for the survey could yield immense savings down the road. The factors that affect the cost for the surveyor to prepare the certificate are the proximity of available bench marks to the property in question and the type of home the certificate is being prepared for. The elevation certificate has sample diagrams for the different types of homes which are typically encountered and the measurements that are needed for each. The links below will take you to the FEMA website to find the FIRM map for your area and the blank elevation certificate.
***Please Note - Only a Land Surveyor licensed in the state in which your property is located can provide you a valid Elevation Certificate - Aaron Kennerly PLS, LLC is only licensed to provide land surveying in New York State***
JUST ANOTHER UNFORTUNATE FACT OF LIFE
Floods do happen and they strike anywhere, at anytime - keep this in mind when considering modifications to your insurance coverage. A completed elevation certificate does not provide insurance coverage, it is simply a tool to determine the costs associated with providing that coverage.
